Big Jim’s Ribs review

I’ve been away from the blog for a few weeks, but it’s time to finally jump back  in.  This review takes me all the way back to Super Bowl Sunday, February 7th (which also happens to be yours truly’s birthday)  and no super bowl party is complete without some delicious tailgating grub.  Since it was my birthday I decided to splurge a bit and headed down to the intersection of Parker Road and Long’s way to pick up one of Parker’s classic culinary options – Big Jim’s Ribs.

big-jim-sullivan-parker-colorado-bbq-ribsBig Jim’s Ribs is owned by Big Jim Sullivan, a former NFL defensive lineman for the Atlanta Falcons, has been selling his smoked BBQ ribs in Parker for as long as I can remember.  Traditionally, you can find his white food truck and gigantic smoker sitting on the vacant lot on the corner of Parker road and Long’s circle, unless of course it’s Parker Days, when you’ll find him down on main street filling the air with the delicious aromas of his smoked ribs, turkey drumsticks, and other barbecued treats.  If you love barbecue, you MUST try Big Jim’s.  His bbq sauce is very tangy and sweet, and he smokes his ribs until they are extremely tender and practically melt off the bone.

For our Super bowl festivities, I ordered a full rack of Big Jim’s Ribs, two smoked turkey drumsticks, and a side of absolutely delicious coleslaw and baked BBQ beans.  The meal was fantastic and we were stuffed long before the final whistle sounded the Bronco’s 2016 Superbowl victory.  Overall, it was pretty damn satisfying.  One word of warning though, Big Jim’s is not cheap.  I believe I spent around $75.00 on this meal.  So save up a paycheck or two before you head over to Big Jim’s Ribs.  Having said that, the high price tag is well worth it for some of the best BBQ in Colorado.
