What’s the difference between a REALTOR and a real estate agent?

Entering into my second year of life in the real estate trade, I have noticed many comments from friends and acquaintances that seem to lump the terms REALTOR and real estate agent together.  This is a very common misconception, one which I am sure has endless articles and blogs scattered about the internet explaining the differences.  In short, all Realtors are agents, while not all agents are Realtors.  REALTORS belong to one of the various chapters of NAR (the National Association of REALTORS) – We pay dues, and hold ourselves to a higher level of moral and professional standards than an average licencee.  My local MLS, REColorado, has come up with a really nice little presentation that I’d like to share with everyone – giving some hard numbers as to whats the difference between a realtor and a real estate agent. The presentation was compiled the University of Denver and compiles REALTOR vs Licensee performance metrics in Colorado.
